John Cranston grew up in Philadelphia and graduated with honors from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2007. Starting his career in Los Angeles, John built a solid foundation in design, direction, and animation, working with studios such as Ant Farm, The Famous Group, Colourmovie, Hornet, Troika, and Comedy Central. During this time, John was heavily involved in the motion graphics community and was an editor for one of the industries leading news sources, Motionographer.
In 2010, John partnered with Ryan McNeely to launch VisualCreatures. As a creative director, John has led projects for high-profile clients including Google, Disney, Riot, Saturday Night Live, YouTube, The Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails, Relativity Media, Starbucks, Wild Turkey, Facebook, and Allstate. What started as a small operation out of their homes grew into a state of the art multifaceted virtual production studio, leading to a partnership with The Russo Brothers and AGBO.
In 2024 John officially joined the AGBO team as a Creative Director in the Innovation Department, collaborating with an exceptionally talented team to expand the boundaries of what’s achievable when cutting-edge technology is propelled by artist-driven storytelling.
