Joe and Anthony Russo’s AGBO Signs Spotify Podcast Deal
The multi-series deal is expected to delve into the genre stories that the Russo brothers are known for shepherding.

Joe and Anthony Russo have inked a multi-year podcast deal with Spotify, the company announced Feb. 22 during its Stream On investor presentation.
The filmmaker brothers, through their AGBO production company, will create multiple audio series for Spotify that are expected to delve into storytelling universes.
The Russos, known for their work directing Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, are expecting to bring genre-based sagas with interconnected stories to Spotify’s audience of 345 million global users. The music streamer noted in announcing the partnership that a partnership with the duo comes as it looks to tell more stories that excite multiple generations of listeners around the world.
Spotify and the Russos did not disclose specifics about the projects that they will work on together but said more details will follow. The news comes days ahead of the release of their next film, novel adaptation Cherry for Apple TV+.
The brothers join a growing roster of talent that have teamed up with Spotify to produce original podcasts, part of its bet on the medium to help it attract and retain new users and Premium subscribers. The company also has inked deals with Barack and Michelle Obama, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Jordan Peele and Ava DuVernay.
The partnership with the Russos was one of many announcements during Spotify’s 90-minute presentation. The company also unveiled new details of its partnership with DC, which will see the entertainment brand create audio stories about iconic characters including Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman.
